Practical answers about planning, shopping estimates and using your account.
Meal planning and shopping
What is KaiPrep?
A meal-planning tool for New Zealand households. Choose your preferences to generate a seven-day plan, then review recipes and shopping requirements.
Does KaiPrep use AI?
Yes. KaiPrep uses AI to help create personalised meal plans based on your household preferences. Plans are not individually reviewed by a person before you receive them. Review generated recipes, ingredient quantities, cooking instructions and nutritional estimates before relying on them. Check allergens and product labels, and follow safe food handling and cooking practices.
Are supermarket prices guaranteed?
No. KaiPrep estimates the cost of ingredient quantities used in meal plans, not guaranteed checkout spending. Buying whole packs may cost more, some prices may be unknown, and retailer-specific pricing is not currently available. Selecting Pak’nSave, Woolworths or New World does not guarantee estimates reflect that retailer’s current prices.
Can KaiPrep help me stay within my grocery budget?
KaiPrep plans against an estimated ingredient-usage budget. Shopping estimates account for eligible Plus pantry deductions. Actual checkout spending may differ because of pack sizes, prices and availability. Free does not include Plus pantry inventory or deductions.
Why are purchase quantities different from recipe quantities?
A recipe might need only part of a pack. Shopping suggestions aggregate requirements before rounding supported fixed packs. Loose and variable-weight foods are treated differently. Unknown pack sizes or purchase prices remain unknown.
Why does my bread shopping list use loaves?
KaiPrep uses a planning assumption of 17 usable slices per standard sliced-bread loaf and rounds up after eligible pantry deductions. For example, 24 remaining slices suggest buying two loaves. Generic bread recorded as “each” uses the same shopping assumption, explained in Details. This does not change the saved recipe quantity and is not a verified slice count for a selected product. Actual loaves may vary. Rolls, buns, baguettes, breadsticks, wraps, pita, naan and unsliced specialty loaves are not converted with this rule. Genuinely unclear quantities still need checking.
Why is nutrition unavailable?
Numeric AI-estimated nutrition is currently hidden, including estimates that pass limited ingredient checks. Those checks do not establish nutritional accuracy. No replacement calorie or nutrient figures are calculated for those estimates, and saved values are not rewritten. Unavailable values are unknown, not zero. Do not expect a reference-calculated nutrition panel with a newly generated plan. KaiPrep is not a substitute for professional medical or dietary advice.
Saving and generation
Can I return to my saved plan?
Yes. Sign in to return to your saved recipes and shopping information. Wait for save confirmation before leaving a page with changes.
What if my meal plan does not generate?
Follow the message displayed in KaiPrep. A confirmed failure to create a plan preserves your previously saved plan. If saving is awaiting confirmation, keep the page open and use the offered retry action before generating another plan. Refreshing or closing may lose unsaved changes.
If the issue continues, contact support@kaiprep.nz with the approximate time, browser and displayed error. Never include passwords, payment details or password-reset links.
Accounts and Plus
What are the Free and Plus allowances?
Free includes up to 4 meal plans per month. Plus costs NZ$7.99/month, billed monthly, with up to 30 meal plans per month and eligible pantry features. Review pricing.
How do I manage or cancel Plus?
Sign in and use Profile → Manage billing. This is also the recovery route for subscription payment problems. A checkout return alone does not confirm activation. Contact support if you cannot access billing management.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
Use the password-reset option on the app’s sign-in screen and follow the email instructions. Do not share the reset link or code with anyone.
